Warner Henry "Hal" Halladay

Retired from the Department of Communications (DOC) in 1982.

Retraite du Ministère des Communications (MDC) en 1982.

1982

All good things must end...

The employees of the Pacific Regional Office are unanimous in their assessment of a key member of their "family" who retired last December: W.H. ("Hal") Halladay will be missed by his colleagues. As well as being highly respected in his own fields, he has been a friend to all.

Hal Halladay was a 25-year Canadian Forces veteran when, in 1969, he took the position of Pacific Director, which he held until his retirement. In the past decade, his planning and developing of the Department's role in British Columbia and the Yukon has earned him the firm loyalty of the entire region's staff, as well as the respect of the communications industry on the Pacific Coast.

Mr. Halladay will be especially remembered for his constant willingness to assist those in difficulty and his extraordinary capacity for work, not to mention his great human qualities.

Our thanks and best wishes to Hal.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Hal Halladay on June 12, 2007.

Beloved soul-mate of Margaret, and much loved dad to Daphne. Predeceased by his parents William and Hazel, his brothers Leslie and John and his wives Joan and Muriel.

Born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Hal had a distinguished career in the RCAF and Federal Civil Service, both in Canada and internationally. Wherever he went, and whatever he did, he made a difference. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by many.   (From the Vancouver Sun)

... Daphne managed to speak elegantly from the heart during the memorial service, of Hal's as a father, a military aviator, an engineer and a man - in the memorial program Daphne wrote "Wherever Hal went and whatever he did. he made a difference"

    - I told Daphne that these words about her father were absolutely perfect and would strike a chord among all of us who worked with Hal over the years  ( John Quigley )

In 1969, Hal was Director for the Pacific region .
